Designing a café that breathes

The rooftop at KŌNA

We wanted a building that felt alive — cool in the heat, full of daylight, and green in every direction.

Breeze-block (jali) screens do a lot of quiet work: they throw beautiful shadows, move air, and give privacy without shutting the world out. Terrazzo floors and lime-plaster walls keep things calm and tactile. Rattan pendants and a grass-green ceiling bring warmth.

And then, up top, the rooftop — a green steel pergola, climbing plants, and an open sky over Chhindwara. It's the kind of place that slows your shoulders down the moment you arrive.

Plants aren't decoration here. They're the point.
